Seek to Discover Your Blind Spots

We all have blind spots. That’s what I believe self discovery is all about. If I explore my way of being, I discover where I may have a blind spot. If you find a car regularly honks at you when you move in a certain direction on the road, you likely have a blind spot there. You can’t see what’s there so you can’t consider it. The same is true with our way of navigating day to day decisions.
If we want to improve our relationships, change our outcomes for the better, “grow” in all the elusive ways we hear about, this starts with a recognition in ourselves that we can’t possibly know all there is to know on any single topic. This is self discovery. And the practice of it is taking a concerted effort in investigating ourselves.

Because imagine if you started to learn more about your blind spots so much so that they’re no longer blind spots. You improve your design over time just like a vehicle manufacturer does with enough feedback from its drivers. Imagine how many more risks you could take on the open road , how many new avenues you can take , how many great adventures you could pursue with a wider vantage point. We all have them, it’s undeniable. The question becomes, will we recognize that it’s a blind spot the next time we butt up again against a friction point in our lives? Consider that you don’t know everything and you will be well on your way to expanding what’s possible.
